The Star — Michellar

With her upcoming single “The Star,” San Francisco songwriter Michellar brings listeners into the warm and familiar emotions of the holiday season. Drawing inspiration from the nostalgic folk sounds of Dan Fogelberg, the song captures the quiet magic found in family traditions and the small moments that stay in our hearts. At its core is a simple image—placing a star at the top of the Christmas tree—but Michellar turns it into a symbol of hope, light, and the feeling of being complete during a time when love matters most.

The Star

“The Star” began as a humble demo recorded by Michelle Bond in her San Francisco home before making its way to Staffordshire, UK, where Toby Wilson brought it to life through production and mastering. The two have built a meaningful creative partnership over the past year, crafting more than 25 tracks together, and that connection shines through in the song’s warmth and clarity. This release is especially significant for Michellar, not just because it’s her second Christmas single, but because it comes during her most creatively fulfilling year—after returning to songwriting following a 40-year hiatus and writing an astonishing 82 songs in 2025.

Guided by her personal motto, “Nothing ventured… nothing gained,” Michellar approaches music with curiosity, sincerity, and an eagerness to connect. “The Star” reflects that spirit beautifully, offering listeners a moment of peace and nostalgia in a busy world. With a new album arriving in January and an EP planned for February, this single stands as both a celebration of how far she’s come and a glimpse of the heartfelt music still ahead.
