“Ingredients of Life” offers one of the project’s clearest snapshots of contemporary life. It considers identity, circumstances, and the things people have to deal with along the way. “Real Talk” takes a more personal look at survival, particularly the search for happiness when life does not always make things easy. The two tracks give the EP a strong sense of purpose, raising questions about how far people are willing to go for success and whether the price of getting ahead is always worth paying.
C.E.D.’s background adds another layer to the project. Growing up in Washington Heights/Dyckman during an important period in Hip-Hop history, he absorbed the culture from an early age before developing his own path as a songwriter, performer, and music executive. His experience eventually led to the creation of Kaos Records, reflecting the independent mindset that continues to guide his work. That combination of cultural roots, business experience, and years spent developing his craft gives the project a perspective that feels grounded and authentic.
The range of influences behind Hustlers Haven 2.0 gives the project plenty of character. Elements associated with 80s disco, Trap, Hip-Hop, and adult contemporary R&B sit alongside C.E.D.’s observations of modern urban life. The project feels personal without becoming detached from the world around it.
