With Just Different, guitarist and composer Richard Green presents one of the most distinctive compositions from his neoclassical music trilogy A Journey. The piece explores adolescence, identity, and the experience of feeling different in a world that doesn’t always understand individuality—ultimately reframing “different” as something human and valuable rather than negative.

Blending classical arrangements with blues and jazz influences, Just Different stands out for its rich harmonies, expressive dynamics, and genre-defying approach. The composition features Irene Veneziano on piano and the acclaimed Archimia String Quartet, whose performances add depth and emotional intensity to one of the most technically demanding pieces in the EP. Richard Green studied music for ten years in London and is now based between Milan and London. After beginning his release journey in 2021 with experimental works, Green developed a distinctive artistic identity through projects that deliberately contrast musical styles. His most significant work to date is the neoclassical trilogy—three EPs for piano and strings—that merge classical tradition with contemporary sensibilities. A Journey is the first chapter of this trilogy, followed by The Circle Closes and First Light. Although Just Different was released in 2022, it continues to resonate strongly with listeners and remains central to the narrative of the completed trilogy, which concluded in September 2025.
The music was composed in London and recorded in Italy at Studio Elfo (Piacenza), one of the country’s most respected recording studios. The collaborative recording process highlighted the technical and emotional strengths of the musicians involved, particularly on this challenging composition. Richard Green’s work is defined by versatility—moving seamlessly between neoclassical, jazz-influenced compositions and electronic or contemporary genres. With new releases planned for 2026, Just Different stands as a key artistic statement in his evolving catalog and a powerful reflection on self-acceptance through music.
