MILO KOBAYASHI – METAMORPHOSIS
Milo Kobayashi’s Metamorphosis is based on the concept of becoming one’s true self, the body of work having been shaped by personal growth, changing circumstances, and creative discovery. By presenting it as a transformation, the album reflects the uncertainty involved when choosing a new path and in finding oneself in strange or unfamiliar environments. Instead of viewing change as a straightforward transition, the project shows the unexpected developments that can occur as a result of a serious dedication to music. This way of looking at things gives Metamorphosis a definite identity by linking its main theme to the experiences that led to its creation.
The story of the release also includes personal growth, especially due to the abrupt change in circumstances after Kobayashi decided to take up music more seriously. By moving into larger rooms and coming across new opportunities, he experienced a sharp sense of disorientation, which highlighted the difference between the position he had previously held and the reality he was now facing. This kind of tension forms an important background to the EP, causing its theme of transformation to seem linked to a real period of adjustment rather than just an abstract idea. The end result is a project that shows how unpredictable it is to go beyond familiar boundaries.
“Bufo Spit” is of particular importance, Kobayashi having called its effect on him a turning point; within the project it holds significance which goes beyond mere personal taste, indicating a substantial link between the music and the changes that were taking place at the time of its creation. “Frog shiii~”, on the other hand, provides a different sort of appeal and is one of Kobayashi’s favourite songs for relaxing while carrying out ordinary tasks. These two choices show two different kinds of relationship with the EP: one based on personal significance and the other on the simple pleasure of going back to a song at ordinary times.

The EP marks a decisive phase in Kobayashi’s creative journey by combining the themes of self-discovery, adaptation, and the search for a developing artistic identity. Its importance is due to the way closely the transformation indicated by the title relates to the experiences associated with the project; by viewing change as a continuous process rather than as a final destination, the EP sets out a personal course that allows for continued growth.
