The EP titled ‘Dominion of the Stars’ by Innocent Darkness was released on 17 December 2025 and is a highly personal work stemming from grief and the need to remember. It was made as a tribute to the artist’s mother, who died on 14 August 2024, and has become a means of coming to terms with such a great loss by channeling that pain into creative expression. The circumstances surrounding the release give the music a deeply intimate character, especially because of the artist’s simple yet powerful message: “O dear mom, hear me, make this sound’s hope u hear them!!!”
The EP was made at the artist’s parents’ house, thus giving the project an extra personal touch. A great deal of the inspiration arose while walking in the forest, during which Innocent Darkness came up with ideas that eventually turned into music. The link between thinking, the environment, and creativity gives the project a real feeling of personal expression. Instead of viewing the EP as a commercial product, the artist considers making music to be something done for pleasure and as a means of creating something meaningful.
Innocent Darkness carried out the project by himself, employing Vital VST, Circuit TRACKS and Yamaha Seqtrak Black; moreover, the fact that the artist chose to produce the EP without using artificial intelligence is at the heart of the project’s character, highlighting the hands-on aspect of the work. The influences of Monomorte, Noire Antidote, Sidewalks and Skeletons, White Ring, and Salem offer a background for the darker atmospheric style, while the artist’s own method ensures that the project remains personal rather than merely imitative.
‘ Dominion of the Stars’ is best seen as a record of a specific phase in Innocent Darkness’s life, and its worth lies in the honesty with which it was made: grief acted as a source of inspiration, walks in the forest gave rise to ideas, and experimentation served as a way of expressing oneself. The EP doesn’t try to conceal its independent origins or act as something it is not; rather, it provides an open and frank look at how one artist used sound to produce something beautiful during a tough period.
