The first four composers emerged through the Foundation’s annual Symphonina Composer Competition, bringing personal experiences and distinct creative approaches to their pieces, while four established composers add further breadth to the collection. The album’s production journey is equally distinctive. Eight separate recordings involved different studios, conductors, orchestras, and musicians, giving each Symphonina a unique performance environment. Two compositions featuring the International Symphonina Orchestra employed an especially innovative remote-recording process, with individual artists performing from their home countries before their parts were combined and mixed in the United States to form a complete orchestra. This international approach reflects the Foundation’s wider vision of bringing composers and performers together across geographical boundaries.
“Symphonina Stories: New Horizons” carries a mission that extends beyond the album itself: introducing younger generations to the richness of symphonic music while creating opportunities for contemporary composers to shape new classics.
